                                  Michael V. Birman, M.D.

                                  Dr. Birman graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he obtained Bachelor of Science degrees, summa cum laude, in biomedical engineering and chemical engineering. He completed his medical degree with Honors at Baylor, College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Birman completed the Robert E. Carroll Hand & Microvascular Surgery Fellowship program at Columbia University in New York City. He is board eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

                                  Dr. Birman has many publications in peer reviewed journals with topics including flexor tendon injuries, hand and wrist infections, and thumb basal joint arthritis. He has presented his research findings at several national meetings, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. 

                                  His practice encompasses surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Dr. Birman speaks conversational Russian.
